Climate panel for R8 Digital Operator
R8tech started the program at June 01, 2021 and finished at November 30, 2022. Thus it lasted for 18 months like planned.
The aim of the Green ICT project was to develop climate models for better operation of the indoor climate of buildings. Based on climate models, an addition to the R8 Digital Operator was created in the form of a climate panel, which allows buildings’ managers to adjust the indoor climate in real time, taking into account the impact of changes on the energy consumption of buildings.
Results of the project:
1. Create climate models to optimize HVAC equipment.
2. Create a climate panel at the R8 Digital Operator.
3. Increase the average energy savings of buildings achieved by the R8 Digital Operator and reduce CO2 emissions. Results: for example in October 2022 energy savings rate of 22,3% was achieved in office buildings segment, 18,7% in hotels and 27% is shopping centers!
The total reduction of CO2 emissions due to the project success was 8300 tons (instead of the planned 7930 tons)!
4. To grow the customer base, turnover and profit of R8tech and to create new jobs. For Nov.30, 2022 over 100 buildings with 1,8+million m2 are at the R8tech client portfolio. Company’s turnover of 11 months (January -November) 2022 was over 2x higher than for the 12 months of 2021! Number of new jobs created thanks to the project: 8 (incl for technical PhD and MSc level engineers).
On Sept.10, 2021 in Ülemiste City an international information day was organised by R8tech to introduce the GREEN ICT project, its goals and directions. There were participants from 13 countries in the event (including 1 virtually).
On December 02, 2021 in Tõrva an information day was organised by R8tech to introduce the GREEN ICT project, task completed till Nov. 30, 2021, its current standing and plans for the next months. There were 16 participants in the event.
On March 07, 2022 the project report for Dec’21-Feb’22 was presented. The project is in a good run supporting the global sustainability goals strongly.
On November 08, 2022 the preliminary results of the project were presented. All project goals were achieved (taking into consideration the November prognosed results also).
On November 30, 2022 the final report’s technical content was ready.
On December 05, 2022 the final parts of report (R8tech balance sheet and profit statement) were completed and the report delivered to the Green ICT reporting portal.
The project “Development of a flexible energy management service for the climate panel” has been supported by the support measure of the Estonian-Norwegian cooperation program “Green ICT” in the amount of 149,949.20 euros. The 2nd stage is lasting from 01.02.23 to 31.10.23.
The goal for Green ICT additional round is to improve R8tech’s existing Climate Panel application so that clients could change the most critical control parameters of the building and see those changes immediate impact on the indoor climate and energy performance.
On February 03, 2023 a public kick-off seminar was organized in Estonia.
