Last year has brought the world quite a few challenges, from new regulative frameworks to drastic energy market volatility and extreme weather conditions, with real estate being at the forefront of attention for tackling the global climate challenge due to the biggest environmental impact compared to all other industries.

At the heart of R8 Technologies is the passion of the exceptionally talented team pushing the boundaries of AI for the real estate and energy sectors. Our human-centric AI solution, R8 Digital Operator Jenny, has successfully operated across a varied portfolio of assets located in many countries with diverse weather conditions. This ensures dependable and efficient performance, even in challenging situations, such as the scorching hot weather experienced last year. We have advanced our cooling systems algorithms and successfully deployed R8 Jenny in a district cooling plant, achieving exceptional outcomes.
Thanks to the Norway grants of the GreenICT program, our innovative Climate Panel and transparent dashboard help facility managers achieve their indoor climate goals seamlessly. Now, building managers have the power to optimize both comfort and energy efficiency, striking the perfect balance. R8 Jenny has evolved into a strategic data and performing real estate platform, where technical assistant R8 Jenny offers advanced capabilities for different stakeholders, including improved Insights, R8 Automated Fault Detection and R8 Diagnostics Audit, and an annual report aligned with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) guidelines and supported by KPMG, has been crafted to meet the requirements of sustainability and efficiency objectives.
Our dedication to collaborating with the energy sector, including transmission system operators (TSO) like Elering, contributes to stabilizing power grids through both upward and downward activations. This commitment ensures energy security, keeps the lights on in our homes, offers energy flexibility for building operations, and generates additional revenue for clients, all while mitigating CO2 emissions.
This evolution underscores R8 Technologies’ commitment to sustainable practices and regulatory compliance, making it easier for clients to meet their environmental, social, and governance goals. We are happy to introduce several new capabilities and product automation throughout 2024.

We’re proud to announce that R8 Technologies received multiple accolades and awards in 2023, recognizing our contributions to technological advancement, sustainability, and corporate responsibility. In 2023, R8 Technologies won several prestigious awards, including the Baltic Sustainability Awards, the prize for Future-Ready Urban Development, the JCDecaux Special Prize for Sustainable Urban Development, as well as the Most Innovative Property Management Software Developer 2023 – Europe award by BUILD Magazine.
R8 Technologies was named the Innovation of the Year for Retail Facilities Awards by the Polish Council of Shopping Centers (PRCH) and recognized among Europe’s Top 20 PropTech Companies in the Building Operations and FM-Tech category. Last year, R8 Technologies was among the top 3 Estonia’s Best Companies selected for the Enterprise of the Year and nominated for the 2024 Nordic PropTech Awards, winning the 2023 Innovation of the Year for Retail Facilities Awards. Our team has always been our greatest asset. We are proud to share that in 2023, the R8 Technologies team continued growing; we have welcomed new team members, including customer-oriented Sales & Marketing, Customer Success, IT Platform, and Product Development. We continued investing in employee education, empowerment, and development programs, fostering a culture of innovation, diversity, and continuous learning. Our commitment to our people remains unwavering.
Last year, we celebrated two incredible colleagues achieving major academic milestones – our Research Specialist, Dr. Juri Belikov, becoming the Associate Professor of TalTech – at Tallinn University of Technology, and Dr. Tuule Mall Parts, Project & Product Engineer, completing her Ph.D. studies. Additionally, to support the young tech talents, R8 Technologies, in collaboration with TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology, participated in the Autumn 2023 scholarships, supporting Master’s study scholarship application.

Recognizing the importance of environmental stewardship, R8 Technologies intensified its commitment to sustainability. Our initiatives include – helping our clients reduce their carbon footprint, implementing eco-friendly practices, and exploring innovative ways to contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.
In addition to our contribution to the global sustainability goals, in December 2023, the R8 Technologies Team, as part of the Estonian Delegation, attended the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change – CO28. Taking part in the global venue that shaped the outlook of sustainability in an international arena allowed us to share our expertise while contributing to the discourse on climate-neutral real estate and laying the pathway of sustainable practices by fostering collaboration with governments, organizations, and stakeholders.

At R8 Technologies, we believe in giving back. Throughout the year, we actively engaged with communities through various philanthropic initiatives, supporting education, technology access, and other social causes that align with our values. As an additional contribution, during the 2023 holiday season, R8 Technologies, in partnership with Treedom, has planted trees in 6 countries worldwide (Cameroon, Colombia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, and Tanzania).
This fantastic initiative celebrated our amazing clients and partners and commemorated their notable contribution towards a greener and more sustainable future for our planet. There are now 170 new trees in the world that will help absorb CO2 and bear valuable fruit for the livelihood of local communities. These trees will remind us of our shared commitment to sustainability and our actions’ profound impact on the world.
